EVALUATION OF FACTOR’S INFLUENCE ON PHYSICAL-CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF COATING

Our studies on evaluation of coating quality, as well as images obtained by polymer decoration, demonstrated the complexity and diversity of issues which are associated with the problem of all patterns accounting.

Aggravating factor is also almost complete absence of theoretical and experimental data in the literature.

Hence some of findings and conclusions made by authors are derived from logical assumptions and they are the subject for further research.

First: polymer decoration is a synthesis of two technologies: — powder polymer painting and sublimation thermal transfer. Each technology has its own criteria for assessing the quality of output effect. And if the polymer coating has state standard No. 9.410-88, decorating doesn’t have any normative documents.

Question: How to evaluate the influence of various factors on decorated aluminum window and door profile by sublimation thermal transfer technology?

On the one hand: it’s a protective coating, on the other hand we are confronted with the visual properties of formed pattern, i.e. image.

The process of image creation can be described using the apparatus of spatial or frequency characteristics.

At the same time transfer should be considered as print made on the intermediate surface, and image is the pattern produced on the primer by sublimation thermal transfer technology.
Then resolution feature of decorating installation is determined as the abscissa of intersection point of resulting contrast-frequency characteristics (CFC) and threshold contrast of visual analyzer.

The resulting CFC is the product of CFC components links. At the first approximation we can identify the main elements that define the visual properties of decorating system:

  1. Polymer basis (the thickness of paint layer, powder paint type, temperature of formation, paint texture).
  2. The process of thermo-vacuum transfer (absolute temperature, power of pressure, exposure time, heating method, stability of parameters).
  3. Transfer paper (material, quality of print).

All of this can be perceived as recommendations for searching of realization of decorating systems potential. We will try to inform the reader about all experimental results.

In practice the assessment of decoration quality, influence of different factors, search of ways to eliminate or correct various kinds of distortions, in our opinion, is expedient to make in relation to visual perception of similarity between new image and «primary» one.
